How we can help

Trauma-Informed Therapy: I incorporates trauma-informed therapy, recognizing the impact of trauma on mental health. Therapists may employ evidence-based approaches like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) tailored to address PTSD symptoms.

Safe and Supportive Environment: Creating a safe and supportive space is crucial for individuals with PTSD. The program would prioritize an environment where individuals feel comfortable sharing their experiences and emotions without judgment.

Individualized Treatment Plans: PTSD is a complex disorder with varied symptoms and triggers. We offer personalized treatment plans to address the unique needs of each individual, taking into account their specific trauma history and symptoms.

Coping Strategies: The program would assist individuals in developing coping strategies to manage symptoms such as intrusive thoughts, nightmares, and hyperarousal. This might involve teaching practical techniques for relaxation, mindfulness, and stress reduction.

Exposure Therapy: Exposure therapy, a common component of trauma-focused treatments, might be incorporated. This involves gradually and safely exposing individuals to thoughts, feelings, and situations related to the trauma, helping them process and reduce the emotional charge associated with those memories.

Psychoeducation: Providing information about PTSD, its symptoms, and the recovery process is essential. We offer psychoeducation to help individuals better understand their condition and empower them in their recovery journey.

Group Support: Connecting with others who have experienced trauma can be therapeutic. The program may include group therapy sessions, fostering a sense of community and shared understanding among participants.

Integration of Mind-Body Techniques: Incorporating mind-body techniques, such as yoga or meditation, may be part of the program to address both the psychological and physical aspects of trauma recovery.

Long-Term Support: PTSD recovery is often a gradual process. I offer ongoing support to individuals, ensuring they have access to resources and therapeutic assistance as needed throughout their healing journey.

Collaboration with Other Professionals: The program may collaborate with other professionals, such as psychiatrists for medication management if needed, ensuring a comprehensive approach to treatment.

Trauma Psychotherapy

Trauma faced during your childhood can have long lasting impacts. Whether you experienced psychological abuse, emotional abuse, verbal abuse, physical abuse, neglect, sexual assault (historical and present), domestic violence, witnessed a catastrophic event (i.e. a violent accident). The individual often manifests symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), or in some circumstances where trauma is long standing and chronic, Complex-PTSD. Survivors of trauma need a safe holding environment whereby they can feel psychologically safe to explore their trauma and release it. As a trauma-informed-therapist my goal is to utilize interventions which address how trauma is “held” in the body using Trauma-Informed-Psychotherapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Inner family systems therapy, and elements of Somatic Experiencing.
