How we can help
As a therapist with a niche in providing comprehensive mental health support, I specialize in utilizing a diverse range of therapeutic modalities tailored to the unique needs of my clients. Here are some key approaches that define my practice:

Somatic Experiencing Therapy: Somatic Experiencing Therapy (SE) focuses on the connection between the mind and body, addressing the impact of trauma on the nervous system. By exploring physical sensations and bodily experiences, this therapy helps individuals release damaging pent-up tension and process traumatic events. It's a gentle, gradual process that helps you become more aware of your body's sensations and how they relate to past experiences. SE helps you access and process the energy that gets "stuck" in your body during traumatic events, allowing your body to complete its natural healing processes. You'll learn to pay attention to the sensations in your body, such as muscle tension, tightness, or a sense of energy. You'll explore these sensations in a safe and supportive environment, guided by the therapist. As you become more aware of your body's responses, you'll learn to release the energy that is stuck, which can lead to a sense of ease and calm.

Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy: Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy recognizes the pervasive impact of trauma on an individual's well-being. It involves creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore and understand the effects of trauma on their lives. This approach emphasizes empowerment, collaboration, and a thorough understanding of the complexities of trauma.

Internal Family Systems Therapy: Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) explores the different facets of an individual's personality, treating them as distinct "parts." Everyone has a Self, and the Self can and should lead the individual's internal system. By understanding and integrating these parts, clients can achieve a greater sense of self-awareness and harmony. IFS views your mind as a collection of different "parts" or subpersonalities, each with its own unique role and perspective, and the goal is to help you understand and heal these parts, ultimately leading to a more balanced and compassionate inner world. Clients will elevate the Self energy so it can be an effective leader in the nervous system.

Attachment Therapy: Attachment Therapy focuses on understanding and improving the quality of interpersonal relationships, especially those developed early in life. The style of attachment is formed at the very beginning of your childhood life, and once established, it is a style that stays with you and plays out today in how you relate in intimate relationships and in how you parent your children. By understanding and addressing attachment patterns, individuals can improve their ability to form and maintain healthy relationships.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a widely used approach that examines the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns, promoting healthier behaviors and emotional well-being.

Cognitive Processing Therapy: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is specifically designed to address the effects of trauma, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It involves identifying and challenging distorted thought patterns related to the traumatic event, promoting cognitive restructuring and emotional healing. CPT focuses on how traumatic experiences can lead to negative thoughts and beliefs about oneself, others, and the world, and how these thoughts can keep people "stuck" in a cycle of distress. The primary goal of CPT is to help clients identify and challenge these negative thoughts (called "stuck points") and develop more balanced and realistic ways of thinking about the trauma and its impact.

By offering this diverse range of therapeutic modalities, I aim to provide clients with a tailored and holistic approach to mental health. Whether individuals are seeking trauma-informed care, assistance with attachment issues, or cognitive restructuring, I strive to collaborate with them in selecting the therapeutic approach that aligns with their unique needs and goals.

Payment is due prior to or at the beginning of each session by e-transfer only. It is the responsibility of the client to submit the receipt to the insurance provider if applicable. A receipt will be issued to the client once payment has been received by the therapist.

Trauma Psychotherapy
Trauma faced during your childhood can have long lasting impacts. Whether you experienced psychological abuse, emotional abuse, verbal abuse, physical abuse, neglect, sexual assault (historical and present), domestic violence, witnessed a catastrophic event (i.e. a violent accident). The individual often manifests symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), or in some circumstances where trauma is long standing and chronic, Complex-PTSD. Survivors of trauma need a safe holding environment whereby they can feel psychologically safe to explore their trauma and release it. As a trauma-informed-therapist my goal is to utilize interventions which address how trauma is “held” in the body using Trauma-Informed-Psychotherapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Inner family systems therapy, and elements of Somatic Experiencing.
